WIN £500 in our 2025 Flash Fiction Contest!

It’s that time of year again! Time for you to flex your flash muscles and stun us with your super succinct story telling. Yep, the annual Failing Writers Podcast flash fiction contest, in association with Scrivener, is back!

This year you’ve got just 300 words to play with, but if those words are wonderful, you could take first prize and win £500!!

The theme for The Failing Writers Flash Fiction Contest 2025 is “a lie”, and you’ll also need to include the special secret phrase too! Oh… you don’t know what that is?? Well, don't panic - just listen to our competition launch episode on the 29th September to discover the phase you have to include.

We’ve had some brilliant judges over the years for our Failing Writers Flash Fiction contests – and this year is no exception! Sarah Lewis from Writers’ HQ will be doing the cogitating and deliberating this time out, to decide who wins that £500 first prize! If you haven’t already, then you should most definitely check out www.writershq.co.uk.

Entry is dead simple – once the contest is live, you’ll find everything you need on the front page of our website and you just need to pay via PayPal and fill in all the details requested on the form.

It’s £4 for one entry, £6 for two and £7 for three. So, if you’ve got loads of great ideas get them all entered for more chance to win!!

As usual, all the finalists and some of the runners-up stories will be read out on the podcast, and there might even be a few extra prizes for those that don’t quite make it to the gold medal spot on the podium.
